FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Leaving school, what’s next?

Finishing school is a big step. We help young people with disability build the skills, confidence and experience to move from the classroom towards work — at a pace that feels right.

WHAT IS IT?

A bridge from school to working life.

Leaving school is exciting and it can feel daunting too. For young people with disability, the move from a familiar school routine into the working world is a big change, and it helps to have someone walking beside you.

At Workspace, we help school leavers take that step. We build everyday skills, grow confidence, and create real opportunities to try work and discover what you enjoy, so the path ahead feels less like a leap and more like a series of steps you can manage.

WHAT SUPPORT LOOKS LIKE

Skills for work, and for life.

Support is built around you and what you’d like to do. It can include:

Building work skills
The practical skills that help you feel ready and capable in a job.

Confidence & independence
Everyday skills and self-belief to step into the working world your way.

Trying things out
Work experience and hands-on opportunities to discover what you enjoy.

Getting around
Travel and transport skills, so getting to and from work feels doable.

Exploring your options
Working out what you’re good at, and what you’d like to do next.

A plan that’s yours
Support shaped around your goals, moving at a pace that suits you.

IS IT FOR ME?

Who can access this support?

This support is for young people with disability who are in their final year of school or have recently left, and who’d like help making the move towards work.

Not sure if it’s right for you, or whether you have the funding? That’s okay, it’s exactly what we can help you figure out. Reach out and we’ll talk it through with you and your family.

Why early employment support matters

Starting to explore employment while finishing school can make the transition into work much smoother. Early support helps young people to understand their strengths and interests, build confidence in workplace settings, develop job-ready skills and connect with employers earlier. This support helps create stronger pathways from school into employment.
